On this date, June 8th, in 1534 French explorer Jacques Cartier is the 1st European to sail into mouth of St Lawrence River. However, as the area's indigenous population had been doing this for centuries I am not so impressed. Sumbitch could've just stopped and asked for directions. He had a nice goatee, but he dressed oddly.
