Outer Space, Film Noir, and the Blues
Hello out there. Your Suburban Hermit here. A lovely day here in Northern California. Let's get random.
Stephen Robinson riding the Canadarm2 while conducting the first in-flight repair of the Space Shuttle during STS-114 on August 3, 2005. The landmass in the backdrop is the Bari region of Somalia.
'Crazy' is a term of art; 'Insane' is a term of law. Remember that, and you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
Hunter S. Thompson
Blues legend John Lee Hooker doing Boogie Chillen, with Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones.
A film noir movie poster and movie trailer for Key Largo. I love this flick, I've seen it many times, including once at a Bogart Festival that was huge fun. Every actor is dead-on perfect in this; Bogie & Bacall, Edward G. Robinson, Lionel Barrymore, and Claire Trevor. Bogart is cool in facing down Robinson early in the film, and deadly cold later. Claire Trevor as the alcoholic torch singer isn't the biggest role in the film, but when she's on-screen I cannot look away.
One of my favorite writers is poet, novelist, and university professor DeMisty D. Bellinger. Her work is outstanding. Check out some samples here.
She's a swell person, too.
OK, I'm done being random and need to start in on my own writing.
